Sermon Outline
Date: October 19, 2025
Text: Genesis11:1-9
Synopsis: This sermon on Genesis 11:1–9 explores the Tower of Babel as a vivid picture of human pride in rebellion against God. It shows that pride is the parasite of the soul. It is subtle, self-exalting, and deadly. It manifests through our affections, our desire for others’ approval, and our rebellion against God’s commands. In this sermon we'll contrast humanity’s futile attempt to climb to heaven with God’s effortless descent, exposing the insanity of pride before the majesty of God. Yet even in judgment, God displays grace as he restrains evil, redirects human plans, and ultimately redeems his beloved through Christ, who “came down” in humility to save us. The message calls believers to examine their hearts, renounce the exhausting delusion of pride, and rest in the free and undeserved grace of Jesus Christ, who alone brings heaven down to us.
