Text: Jeremiah 7:1-15
Synopsis: Before the Church looks outward at Chicago's needs, it must first look inward at its own faithfulness. Jeremiah confronts God's people for trusting in the temple while tolerating sin and neglecting the vulnerable. For Christians, this call to repentance is grounded in the gospel: Christ exposes our sin as Prophet and pays for it as Priest. Because we have been shown such grace, we pursue holiness together, not to earn God's favor, but because we belong to Christ. A reformed and repentant Church is then positioned to become the faithful, Christ-centered witness Chicago desperately needs.
