Hey Park South Loop,
Well, this is a first for us. But the team that is leading the charge for this morning's annual Summer Celebration service at Montrose Beach has let us know that they have canceled the service due to unexpected storms in the area. We've even been in touch with local weatherman who is sharing that things are very unpredictable at the moment and lightning may make the service impossible. Unfortunately, we do not have access this week to the Union Hall (where we normally meet on Sunday mornings).
So, today we are going to officially cancel our Sunday gathering. While my heart is to find some way to still gather because it is the Sabbath and the gathering of the saint is such a precious part of our walk with Christ, we unfortunately do not have any options with such a last minute change of plans.
We have been told that Park Near North will be hosting a service in their building that Park Lincoln Park will be attending as well at 10:00am. For those that still want to attend a service, you are welcome to try to attend over there (though space may be quite limited due to those two congregations joining together).
We recommend today that you gather with family and close friends from the Church to study God's Word together, join in fervent prayer for your community together, and sing worship together. While this is not the same as the whole gathered Church, on a day like today this will feed your souls well. Further, our scheduled South Loop baptisms will be re-scheduled for the coming weeks.
And please spread the word to your friends at Church who may not read their email this morning.
God Bless,
Pastor Raef
